*CURRENT LOCATION IN NZ are you fit and strong? are you on a working holiday visa? have you had experience with LARGE stock animals, preferably cows? do you have your own transport to get to the farm? can you commit for at least 3 months? can you ride a 2 or 4 wheel motorbike? IF YOU ANSWERED YES NOW CONSIDER THE FOLLOWING Some calves will not make it. DO you understand it's the circle of life? It's winter, it's early, it's real farm work. Starts at 3-4am, often in the cold and dark. Days run 10–12 hours. Its Dirty. Poo, pee, effluent, chemical smells — this is dairy farming, and it's part of the job every single day. It's Hard: on your feet all day, in all weather, lifting and carrying at least 20kg calves and bags of food etc The first 2–3 weeks are the hardest. your body is building strength and stamina it doesn't have yet. expect to be tired — that's normal, not a sign you're failing. You'll start at the bottom — cleaning, sorting, the repetitive stuff. Why people love it … You'll earn lots. The team becomes family. Friends for life You'll leave stronger. You'll learn new skills. Why people hate it … It’s smelly and dirty. It’s hard. It’s cold. It can be sad (where there's life there's death). Calving and rearing season needs consistency. A short crew mid-season is hard on everyone, so we need people who can commit properly to 2-3 months ? Accommodation is available on farm at $150 a week EACH , private bedroom in 3 Bedroom house with other travellers! Power. Internet and some meat provided (farm by farm basis) $26 - $28.00 per hour.
