About theTeam/Service/ Location Ourpassionate paediatric and neonatal nursing teams provide high-quality,family-focused care for pēpē, tamariki, rangatahi and whānau across our units.SCBU is co-located with Maternity, enabling us to keep māmā and pēpē togetherwhenever possible while caring for babies from approximately 32 weeks’gestation or stabilising sick neonates before transfer to Wellington. Our12-bed Paediatric Unit provides care for children aged 0–15 years, supported byonsite paediatricians and close collaboration with specialist, allied healthand iCAMHS teams. As a Health Care Assistant, you will bepart of our dedicated nursing environment with full support. Your role is towork within the team to assist nursing staff in care delivery, one-to-onepatient therapeutic observations and other tasks as directed. About you We are looking for people with a mature outlook, the ability to get onwith a wide variety of people and who have excellent communication skills. You will need the ability to work in a flexible and methodical manner,demonstrate honesty and reliability, and use appropriate initiative. Experience within the health sector is preferred but is not essential asfull training will be provided. Qualifications Year 11 NCEA level 1 English (or equivalent) Year 11 NCEA level 1 Maths (or equivalent) Mandatory requirement *NZQA Level 3: NewZealand Certificate in Health and Wellbeing - Health Assistance Strand,ifnot previously obtained,istobe commenced onceorientations have been attended. Experience within the health sector isrequired, and you will ideally hold a NZQA Level 3: New Zealand Certificate inHealth and Wellbeing - Health Assistance Strand, or equivalent, or be willingto study toward.
