This role sits in the Council’s Community Group, which comprises of community focused services such as Hamilton Pool, Parks and Recreation, Hamilton City Librariesand the city’s three main visitor attractions. Job Description Are you passionate about water safety and love working with children and schools? Join our team and help shape confident, capable swimmers who understand how to stay safe in and around water. As a Water Safety Instructor, you’ll deliver our dynamic water safety programme, which blends open water and water safety skills competencies. You’ll inspire students and schoolteachers alike through engaging, discovery-based learning and problem-solving activities. Plan and conduct engaging and effective swimming lessons for various age groups and skill levels Demonstrate proper swimming techniques and water safety practices Monitor and provide constructive feedback to students to improve their skills Ensure a safe and positive learning environment in the pool area Maintain accurate records of student attendance Promote water safety awareness and educate students on drowning prevention The schedule for this role ranges from 4.5 to 22.5 hours per week. Applicants must be available to work Monday to Friday between 9:15am and 2:15pm. Qualifications Oo puumanawa me oo wheako | Your skills and experience Confident swimming abilities,knowledge of water safety practices, and willingness to learn Excellent communication andinstructional skills, with the ability to explain concepts clearly Patience and ability to work with people of diverse ages, backgrounds, and skill levels Preferred qualifications include: Experience teaching swimming lessons or water safety courses Knowledge of various swimming strokes and techniques Ability to follow structured lesson plans First Aid Certified Additional Information He aha te wariu o te utu kaimahi? | What’s the salary?
