Job Description
Project Manager (Interface role) Lead interface management across a significant infrastructure programme Build trusted relationships across multiple organisations and delivery partners Turn complex technical information into clear advice and governance reporting About The Role This is a fixed-term role for two years, offering the opportunity to play a key role in one of the region’s most significant infrastructure programmes. Working within the Capital Delivery team, you’ll be the key interface between Council, internal teams, contractors, consultants, iwi, government agencies and community stakeholders, helping connect people, projects and information to support the successful delivery of complex transport and infrastructure projects. Unlike a traditional delivery-focused Project Manager role, this opportunity places a strong emphasis on interface management, governance reporting and stakeholder engagement. You'll work across multiple organisations, bringing people, projects and information together to support successful programme outcomes. You will be responsible for coordinating and managing project interfaces across multiple workstreams, ensuring that dependencies, risks, and stakeholder requirements are identified and effectively managed throughout the project lifecycle. You will facilitate collaboration between delivery partners and project stakeholders to achieve successful outcomes on major initiatives such as Te Wai Takamori o Te Awa Kairangi (RiverLink) and other significant urban development projects. Success in this role will come from your ability to build trusted relationships, provide clear governance reporting, navigate complexity and bring people together to achieve shared outcomes. You’ll support the safe, timely and coordinated delivery of projects while helping ensure programme activities remain aligned with strategic objectives. About You You are a highly collaborative project professional who excels at managing complex interfaces across large infrastructure programmes. You thrive in environments where success depends on effective coordination, communication, and alignment between multiple organisations, stakeholders, and delivery partners. With a background in project management, programme coordination, business analysis, or a related discipline, you have proven experience working across organisational boundaries to ensure dependencies are understood, risks are managed, and project outcomes are protected. You are skilled at bringing together diverse perspectives, facilitating constructive discussions, and maintaining alignment across multiple workstreams and partner organisations. You are confident providing governance and decision-makers with clear, accurate, and timely information on project interfaces, risks, opportunities, and emerging issues. Your ability to synthesize complex information into concise reporting and practical advice enables informed decision-making and supports programme integrity and successful delivery outcomes. You are recognised for your sound judgement, strong relationship management skills, and ability to remain calm and effective in complex or high-pressure environments. You can navigate ambiguity, manage change, facilitate difficult conversations, and balance competing priorities while maintaining positive and productive stakeholder relationships. To Be Successful In This Role, You Will Bring Proven experience in delivering infrastructure, transport, construction, or capital projects. Demonstrated experience managing interfaces and coordinating activities across multiple stakeholders, agencies, delivery partners, and workstreams. Strong governance, reporting, and communication skills, with the ability to provide clear analysis, recommendations, and advice to senior leaders and decision-makers. Exceptional relationship management and stakeholder engagement skills, with a proven ability to build trust, influence outcomes, and foster alignment across diverse organisations. Experience identifying, managing, and communicating interface risks, issues, opportunities, and dependencies to support project and programme objectives. Strong facilitation, coordination, and problem-solving capabilities, with the ability to navigate complexity and achieve outcomes in dynamic environments. Experience working within structured project governance frameworks, including risk, scope, schedule, and budget management. Proficiency with Microsoft Office 365 applications, SharePoint, and project management tools such as Microsoft Project, Primavera, PSoda, or similar systems. An agile and adaptable approach, with a willingness to contribute across a broad range of activities to support programme integrity, transparency, and successful delivery outcomes. A bachelor's degree in Project Management, Construction, Engineering, Business Analysis, or a related discipline or equivalent relevant experience. If you're motivated by complex infrastructure programmes and enjoy building relationships, influencing outcomes and working across multiple organisations, we'd love to hear from you.
