Job Description
We’re looking for an experienced Underground Heavy Diesel Technician to join a busy mining operation in Waihi. This is a hands-on role working on underground mobile plant, carrying out preventative maintenance, breakdown repairs and fault finding to keep equipment operating safely and reliably. You’ll be working across a range of underground equipment, with a particular focus on Sandvik machinery. The role will involve diagnosing and repairing mechanical, hydraulic and electrical faults, completing scheduled servicing and getting involved with breakdowns and preventative maintenance underground. What you’ll be doing: Servicing, maintaining and repairing underground mining equipment Diagnosing mechanical, hydraulic and electrical faults Working on Sandvik underground equipment and carrying out detailed fault finding Hydraulic system repairs, hose and component replacement and pressure testing Electrical fault finding, sensors, wiring and diagnostic systems Carrying out planned and preventative maintenance to minimise downtime Attending breakdowns and getting equipment back into operation safely Completing maintenance records and reporting faults accurately We’re looking for someone with proven underground mining experience and strong Sandvik experience. You’ll ideally have a Heavy Diesel or Mechanical trade qualification and be confident working across hydraulics, electrics, engines, driveline and other heavy mobile equipment systems. A strong focus on safety, reliability and working well as part of an underground team is essential.
