Job Description

The Finance team at Parliamentary Service is essential to supporting those who shape New Zealand’s democracy. We are hiring fora10 monthfixed term position toprovide backfill forourteam’s electionwork, and you will be helping the team plan and deliver thisexcitingmahi,along withsupportingcustomers with their monthlyfinancial cycle, includingadvising,reportingand forecasting. Tetīma|The team As part of the Corporate Services Group, the Finance teamprovidesa range of financial, planning and procurement services to Parliamentary Service customers, ensuringfinancial managementpractices support the strategic goals of the Service through effective delivery of reporting,adviceand decisions. This position is about connecting with people, buildingrelationshipsand providing helpful andtimelyfinancial advice. As part of the Finance team, we have six finance business partners, supported by a systems accountant, that share knowledge and wins, work together on complex requests, and enjoy a bit of (often food-related) banter in the office. They are trusted and empowered to provide effectivefinancial management, reporting, and insights for their customers in the Parliamentary Service and Office of the Clerk, including leaders, budget managers, Party Whips, Chiefs of Staff, and Members of Parliament and their staff. Mōtetūnga|About the role You'llenjoy this role as it involves many exciting things that vary from day to day. Reporting to the Finance Manager – Business Partnering,you'llpartner with our customers, such as leadership teams and budget managers, not to mention Members of Parliament and their staff, and give them excellent financial advice thatanticipatestheir needs. You will help them budget their funds, analyse and report their finances, and improve their financial skills. Responsibilities include: Proactively and collaboratively working alongside the business to deliver quality strategic financial leadership, top notch advice and analysis that will shape, support, and inform decision-making, including financial planning, performance review, as well as assessing project investment decisions. Playing a key role in the planning and delivery of Budget Bids, Cabinet Papers, and annual budgets, working with budget managers to create, manage andmonitortheir budgets/forecasts. Providing high-quality monthly reporting and financial analysis to budget managers and the executive leadership team. Growing the financial capability of our customers, translating financial advice to those with varying levels of financial capability.
