Job Description
We're looking for a practical, approachable and organised People & Culture Advisor to provide flexible, hands-on support across New Zealand and Australian operations for this long-established NZ owned electronic component distributor. This is a part time permanent varied and rewarding role for an experienced HR professional who enjoys partnering with leaders and employees to create positive workplace experiences while strengthening systems, processes and people practices. You'll be a trusted first point of contact for people-related matters, supporting everything from recruitment and onboarding to wellbeing initiatives, policy development, training coordination and payroll oversight. With flexibility of up to 20 hours per week , this role offers the opportunity to make a genuine impact on a small successful business by reviewing and improving existing people processes, documentation and systems while helping ensure employment practices remain compliant, consistent and people-focused across both New Zealand and Australia. The Role Reporting to the Operations Manager, you'll provide practical People and Culture support and guidance while helping build robust people practices across the organisation. Key responsibilities include: Providing day-to-day HR advice and support to managers and employees. Supporting employee wellbeing, engagement and workplace culture initiatives. Managing end-to-end recruitment, selection and onboarding processes. Reviewing, developing and maintaining people policies, procedures and documentation. Coordinating HR and employment relations advice through MYHR and other approved specialist providers. Overseeing payroll processes and liaising with external payroll providers to ensure accuracy and compliance. Managing training matrices, training records and workforce development requirements, including supporting the interface between HR and the Quality Management System (QMS). Maintaining accurate people records, reporting and documentation. Identifying opportunities to improve systems, workflows, templates and HR practices. Supporting compliance with both New Zealand and Australian employment legislation and best practice. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working autonomously, creating structure, and have people front of mind. Our Ideal Candidate You are a proactive HR professional who combines strong people skills with excellent organisation and attention to detail. You'll bring: Experience in a generalist HR, People & Culture, People Operations or advisory role. Experience developing and maintaining HR policies, procedures, templates and employment documentation. Strong understanding of employment relations principles and workplace compliance. Confidence handling sensitive and confidential employee matters with professionalism and discretion. Excellent written communication skills and the ability to translate complex information into practical guidance. Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities. A practical, solutions-focused approach and a willingness to take initiative. The ability to build trusted relationships with employees and leaders at all levels. Experience supporting training programmes, workforce capability development or quality management systems would be highly regarded. Knowledge of New Zealand and/or Australian employment legislation and practices.
