About The Role At The Salvation Army, we believe transformation happens through relationships. He Taonga Ngā Tamariki is a structured, relationship‑led, 12‑month programme supporting māmā experiencing substance-use harm while parenting tamariki aged 0-5 years. We are seeking a Māmā Navigator with lived experience of AOD substance use and recovery who can build authentic relationships, inspire hope, and support change through both individual and group‑based approaches. You will journey alongside māmā throughout their 12‑month pathway, providing one-to-one support while also helping facilitate a sequenced programme of group experiences focused on recovery, wellbeing, parenting, life skills and connection. Flexible hours will be considered for the right candidate. What You'll Do Build trusted, long‑term relationships with māmā Provide advocacy, mentoring and practical support Support whānau goal planning and recovery journeys Facilitate and co‑facilitate group sessions and activities Create safe, engaging and welcoming group environments Encourage peer connection, learning and mutual support Connect māmā with services, opportunities and community supports What You Will Bring Lived experience of substance use and recovery Confidence engaging with groups and facilitating participation Strong relationship‑building skills and a passion for seeing māmā, tamariki and whānau thrive Warmth, empathy and authenticity Understanding of trauma‑informed and strengths‑based practice A genuine affinity with our Christian mission and values shaped by faith, hope, and compassion. This role is permanent and hours worked will be 37.5 per week. The starting annual salary for this role will fall between $58,000 to $72,000 per annum.
