Job Description
We are seeking a permanent part-time, Clinical Nurse Educator to join our Care Home based in Christchurch. This is a pivotal position, working 3 days a week, with flexibility required to meet service needs. In this position, you will: Lead the planning, delivery, and evaluation of clinical education programmes to strengthen nursing capability, clinical competence, and safe, evidence-based practice. Promote best-practice clinical skills, critical thinking, and professional development, providing education, coaching, and mentorship that supports nursing staff to grow in confidence and capability. Encourage professional growth and career progression for nursing staff, including coordinating and supporting the Professional Development Recognition Programme (PDRP) across the organisation. Lead and support nursing education pathways, including undergraduate nursing placements within the Dedicated Education Unit (DEU) and support for NETP and ENSIPP participants. Contribute to clinical governance and quality improvement, ensuring education supports Ngā Paerewa - Health and Disability Services Standards and organisational priorities. Develop strong collaborative relationships with nursing and quality teams, tertiary institutions, and national groups to ensure clinical education reflects contemporary best practice. Embed Te Tiriti o Waitangi principles within clinical education and practice, supporting equity, cultural safety, and effective partnership with Māori. You are an experienced and passionate Registered Nurse, committed to advancing nursing practice through leadership, education, and mentorship. You will bring: A current Annual Practising Certificate (APC) as a Registered Nurse. A postgraduate qualification, or a commitment to working towards one. A minimum of seven years' relevant nursing experience, with experience in community nursing and/or clinical education preferred. Strong knowledge of clinical education, adult learning principles, clinical governance, and health quality standards. Proven ability to educate, coach, and mentor nursing staff, supporting the development of safe, confident, and capable practice. Excellent communication and relationship-building skills, with the ability to connect with and positively influence people at all levels. A commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi, culturally safe practice, and achieving equitable outcomes for Māori. Confidence using Microsoft Office and digital learning tools to support education and professional development. Legal entitlement to work in New Zealand.
