Job Description
Major Civil Project | Timaru | Long-Term Opportunity Tradestaff is looking for experienced Civil Carpenters to play a key role in delivering important works at Timaru Port Wharf. You’ll be part of an experienced crew delivering reinforced concrete and structural carpentry works within an active port environment. This is a hands-on role where safety, quality, and teamwork are critical to getting the job done right. We’re looking for skilled carpenters who are confident working across formwork, concrete structures, retaining walls, wharves, abutments, piers, columns, and structural steel interfaces. What you’ll be doing Formwork, boxing, and structural carpentry Building, installing, stripping, and modifying formwork systems Preparing structures for reinforced concrete pours Reading and working from plans and construction drawings Constructing and repairing structural elements across marine and civil works Working with reinforced concrete, structural steel, and other components Working safely with supervisors and the wider site crew to meet programme and quality requirements What we’re looking for At least 3 years' carpentry experience, ideally in civil or heavy construction A carpentry trade qualification is highly preferred A full Class 1 NZ driver licence Strong formwork and reinforced concrete experience Experience with wharves, bridges, retaining walls, piers, columns, or similar structures Confidence reading plans, with strong practical problem-solving skills A reliable attitude, strong safety focus, and ability to pass pre-employment requirements Why work with Tradestaff?
