About the Role The purpose of the Associate Charge Nurse Manager role is to assist and work collaboratively with the Charge Nurse Manager in the establishment and promotion of clinical nursing professional standards. The Associate Charge Nurse Manager provides clinical leadership, monitors and mitigates risk, actively engages in quality initiatives and manages the day-to-day functioning of the ward/unit/service to ensure delivery of safe patient focused care. Staff education is also an integral function of the Associate Charge Nurse Manager. You will help manage any crises that may occur, including short-staffing issues, and may be required to care for acutely unwell patients. You will also create a monthly roster each month and manage safe staffing within the unit. Another important focus of the role is maintaining nursing staff PDRPs in conjunction with the Nurse Educator. The role will be rotating between Ward 6 East and Ward 3 providing clinical leadership on a day to day basis. About the Team/Service/Location The role will across two units Ward 6 East & Ward 3 Acute Frailty Unit. General Medicine is the largest inpatient service and provides assessment, diagnosis, stabilisation and treatment, and rehabilitation of patients who present acutely for urgent medical diagnosis and treatment. General Medicine covers 3 departments with Ward 6 East being one of them. Ward 6 East provides 24 hours, 7 days a week services that focuses on timely assessment, diagnosis and acute treatment planning of patients with a wide range of medical conditions. Ward 3 The Acute Frailty Unit provides 24 hours a day, 7 days a week services that focuses on timely assessment, diagnosis and acute treatment planning of frail patients with a wide range of medical conditions. This is achieved by a short length of stay, an interdisciplinary model of care that prevents patients deconditioning. All of the patients admitted to these wards benefit from a model of care that focuses on reducing hospital harm, improving function and facilitating good health outcomes. The successful candidate will be working with a small vibrant, fun and excellent team across both sites. There is a strong team focus in 6 East and Ward 3, with the nursing teams working together and closely with other members of the Multidisciplinary team to promote excellent health outcomes for our demographic. About you Experience in clinical leadership preferably in a Medical Setting Excellent group facilitation skills and history of a collaborative team approach. Ability to develop and maintain a strong clinical team Able to demonstrate innovation, strategy development, and service change to meet needs. Experience in developing, implementing and monitoring policies, audits, protocols and guidelines. Comprehensive knowledge and understanding of NZ Health System including equity issues, professional leadership and emerging issues for the nursing profession Able to work autonomously as well as adapt and work effectively within a variety of situations, and with various individuals and groups. Skills & experience Registered Nurse with current APC and scope appropriate to place of work Minimum three years post registration nursing practice experience.
