The opportunity: We have an opportunity available for a motivated pharmacist, with or without clinical experience to join our dynamic and ambitious Clinical Pharmacy Service based at Middlemore Hospital. With a talented team of around 50 clinical pharmacists, we provide clinical pharmacy services to inpatient areas spanning across Medicine, Surgery (including National Burns Centre & Spinal Unit), Older Peoples Health & Rehabilitation, Critical Care, Emergency Medicine, Womens & Childrens Health, Mental Health, Infectious Diseases & Antimicrobial Stewardship, Palliative Care, Complex Pain, Refugee Health and Medicines Information. Main responsibilities for clinical pharmacists include: Providing clinical pharmacy services to our inpatients, including medicines reconciliation, medication review and optimisation, discharge facilitation, patient counselling and attending ward rounds/MDTs Promoting safe and effective uses of medicines, and patient-centred care Contributing towards quality improvement and medication safety initiatives Continuing to grow your clinical expertise and contributing to education and training of your colleagues and other professions Supporting other aspects of the pharmacy service such as inpatient dispensary and on-call service We are looking for a pharmacist who is: New Zealand Registered Pharmacist with current APC or eligibility to obtain one Able to work flexible hours (such as participating in our extended service hours, on-call and weekend rosters) Previous clinical experience in hospital pharmacy preferred but not essential Patient-focused, enthusiastic and driven Excellent communicator with sound problem-solving skills Curious, reflective, and motivated in continuous improvement and lifelong learning About us: Middlemore Hospital is a large and progressive tertiary hospital located in South Auckland and is unique in terms of the diverse, high-needs population we serve.
