We collect , analyse and assess intelligence to protect New Zealand from threats such as foreign interference, espionage a nd terrorism. Director Mission Delivery Do you want to play a pivotal role in keeping New Zealanders safe and secure? The New Zealand Security Intelligence Service (NZSIS) is seeking a strategic and decisive people leader to step into the role of Director Mission Delivery. This is a critical Tier 3 leadership position responsible for the effective execution of our integrated intelligence missions. Mo te turanga mahi – about the role You will lead the Mission Delivery group within the Intelligence Directorate of NZSIS, providing strategic direction and operational guidance across intelligence missions covering Counter Terrorism, Counter Espionage, Foreign Interference and Pacific Regional Security impacts. Your focus will be on ensuring that our operational delivery is precisely aligned with New Zealand’s security threat environment, maximizing the impact of our resources to provide decision-makers with unique, timely, and relevant insights. Key Responsibilities Strategic Leadership: Lead the integrated delivery of cross-directorate mission outcomes and align operational priorities with national security goals. Operational Oversight: Manage complex operational risks and ensure all activities are compliant, secure, and effective. People Leadership: Mentor and lead directorate leaders, fostering a culture of collaboration, courage, and high performance. Partnership Management: Build and maintain critical relationships with domestic and international partners across the NZIC and wider security sector. Organisational Influence: Serve as a key member of the Intelligence Directorate Leadership Team, contributing to agency-wide strategy and deputising for the Deputy Director-General. Ko wai koe - about you We are looking for an experienced senior leader with a deep understanding of security intelligence and the ability to thrive in high-pressure, complex environments. You will have: Extensive experience in security intelligence or a related senior leadership role. Proven track record of managing intelligence outcomes within a multi-agency context. Strong leader of leaders’ experience with demonstrated success in building and sustaining high-performing and engaged teams across diverse functions. Expertise in managing complex operational risks and providing impactful advice to senior stakeholders. Strong relationship management skills with domestic and international stakeholders. The ability to act decisively and exercise sound judgment under pressure. The ability to obtain and maintain a TSS security clearance. Note We are also advertising for our next Director Security Services within the NZSIS Protective Security Directorate. This is a Tier 3 leadership role of national security significance, blending strategy, people leadership, service delivery, and security governance in order to help keep New Zealand and New Zealanders safe and secure. Before you apply Working within our unique environment means we have to ensure you're eligible for employment. You must: Have been a New Zealand Citizen for at least 10 years or hold a current NZ Residency Class Visa and ideally have been a citizen of the UK, USA, Canada or Australia for at least 10 years Be eligible to obtain a Top Secret Special (TSS) security clearance Ordinarily, this means you'll have a 15 year checkable background in countries NZSIS Vetting can make meaningful and reliable checks.
