He Taonga Ngā Tamariki is a new and innovative 12‑month wraparound pathway supporting māmā experiencing harm from substance use while parenting tamariki aged 0‑5 years. Through a combination of relationship‑based support, substance‑harm reduction, tamariki care, group programmes, and whānau stabilisation, we are working to improve outcomes for both māmā and their children. We are seeking a Social Worker who can combine professionalexpertisewith compassionate, relationship-based practice to support lasting change for māmā, tamariki and whānau. You will journey alongside māmā,providingprofessional guidance andhelping create the conditions for safe,healthyand thriving futures for both them and their tamariki. About the Role As the Social Worker within He Taonga Ngā Tamariki, you will work alongside Māmā Navigators, whānau and community partners to support safety,wellbeingand long‑term stability. Key responsibilities include: Providing assessment, planning, intervention and review with māmā and whānau. Supporting whānau experiencing complex social, family and wellbeing challenges. Developing strengths‑based plans that promote recovery, resilience and independence. Providing professional guidance around risk, safeguarding and child wellbeing. Advocating across health, housing, education and social service systems. Supporting positive parenting and healthy outcomes for tamariki. Working collaboratively with addiction services, early childhood providers, health professionals and community agencies. Championing trauma‑informed, culturally responsive and recovery‑oriented practice. Contributing to programme evaluation and continuous improvement. What You’ll Bring A recognised Social Work qualification. Current registration with the Social Workers Registration Board. Experience supporting whānau experiencing vulnerability, trauma, substance‑use harm or complex social needs. Strong assessment, advocacy and relationship‑building skills. Confidence working within strengths‑based, trauma‑informed and whānau‑centred frameworks. Commitment to honouring Te Tiriti o Waitangi and supporting equitable outcomes for Māori. A genuine affinity with our Christian mission and values shaped by faith, hope, and compassion. Excellent communication, documentation and organisational skills. Experience in addiction, mental health, family support or community‑based services. Understanding of recovery‑oriented approaches. Experience working within teams and across agencies. Knowledge of local service networks and community resources. The starting annual salary for this role will fall between $68,000 to $102,000 per annum . This role is covered by pay equity and the final remuneration will be dependent on the years of experience the preferred candidate brings to the role.
