TeTūranga| TheRole Join us as a Data Governance Implementation Specialist on a fixed term contract until 30 June 2027 and help build the foundations that will enable the FMA to become a truly data‑led organisation. Working within our Data & Analytics team, you’ll bring data governance to life across the organisation by partnering with stakeholders to improve how data is managed, understood and used. You’ll work closely with business teams, data owners, architects and engineers to implement governance standards, establish ownership and stewardship practices, improve data quality, and support the rollout of governance tools such as Microsoft Purview. This is an exciting opportunity to help shape a growing capability and play a key role in strengthening the foundations that support trusted data, better decision making, and future AI‑enabled initiatives across the FMA. Your mahi will include but not limited to: Supporting the implementation of data governance frameworks, standards and processes across the organisation. Working with stakeholders to establish data ownership, stewardship and accountability. Maintaining metadata, information asset registers and data quality controls. Translating technical concepts into practical guidance for business stakeholders. He kōrero mōu | About you You’ll have strong stakeholder engagement skills with practical experience in data governance, information management or data quality. You’re comfortable working with both technical and non-technical audiences and can translate complex concepts into clear, actionable outcomes. You may currently be working as a Data Governance Advisor, Information Management Specialist, Knowledge Management Specialist, or in a similar role focused on improving how organisations manage and use data. You’ll also bring: Experience implementing data governance, metadata, stewardship or data quality practices. Strong communication and relationship‑building skills. Knowledge of data governance, information management and data quality principles. Experience with Microsoft Purview or similar governance platforms such as Collibra, Informatica or Alation would be advantageous. A pragmatic, delivery‑focused approach and a genuine interest in helping organisations get greater value from their data. This role will suit someone who enjoys working across the business, building relationships, and turning governance concepts into practical solutions that make a real difference.
