Hutt International Boys' School Wellington Teacher of Chinese Full time, Fixed term, Start Date: 27/01/2027, End Date: 10/12/2027 (Teacher on leave) Secondary (Years 7-15) / wharekura, Certificated teacher Learning languages HIBS is a leading Year 7 to 13 state integrated day school for boys in the Wellington region, situated in Trentham, Upper Hutt. We are committed to providing top quality education for our students and have a reputation for outstanding academic achievement. Established in 1991, HIBS is a young school with excellent modern facilities. We have no international students, and our roll is capped at 650 local boys. We have small class sizes (maximum 24 students per class) and places for enrolment are in demand. We are seeking an enthusiastic and experienced Chinese teacher for a long-term reliever position for the 2027 academic year, teaching Chinese as a second language across Years 7 to 13. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in teaching Chinese language and culture to advanced learners, alongside a deep familiarity with the NCEA curriculum and assessment framework. Experience supporting students through HSK examinations is also desirable. Beyond classroom instruction, this role involves curriculum design and leading cultural activities to foster a vibrant language-learning environment. The successful applicant will be collaborative, student-centered, and dedicated to supporting high levels of student achievement and cultural connection. At HIBS, we also teach Spanish, French, and Te Reo Māori. Please state any other languages or subjects you are qualified to teach. The position will commence at the beginning of 2027.
