Operations Supervisor Christchurch

Join our Christchurch Collections team as an Operations Supervisor and take charge of the day-to-day running of our fleet, drivers and operations. What you’ll be doing You’ll be the person keeping things moving — making sure our drivers have what they need, our trucks are where they need to be, and our customers get the service they expect. You’ll: Lead and supervise our team of drivers, keeping them on track and dealing with issues as they come up Coordinate daily runs, making changes when breakdowns, delays or other issues get in the way Keep a close eye on our fleet, making sure vehicles are safe, compliant, maintained and ready to go Work with drivers on vehicle checks, worktime, logbooks and any issues that need following up Monitor performance, investigate problems and use data to identify where things can be improved Keep customers in the loop when there are delays or changes to their service Work closely with the Operations Manager, Branch Manager, Sales and Customer Service teams to keep the operation running smoothly Take an active role in health and safety, including tailgate meetings, incident investigations and making sure safe work practices are followed Jump behind the wheel when needed to keep our customers serviced What we’re looking for You’ll be a hands‑on supervisor who knows how to lead people, keep things organised and make decisions when things don’t go to plan. You’ll also have: 3+ years’ experience in a supervisory role, ideally in transport, waste or a similar fast‑paced operational environment Experience managing a team and a fleet of vehicles A Class 2 licence Good working knowledge of MS Office Strong organisation skills and the ability to juggle competing priorities The confidence to have straightforward conversations and deal with issues when they arise A practical approach to problem‑solving and a focus on getting things done safely Hold NZ residency or an open NZ work visa The successful applicant will need to complete a Pre‑Employment Health Assessment (including drugs test) and a satisfactory Ministry of Justice criminal records check.
