About the role | Ko te mahi nei Our Learn to Swim programme teaches valuable life skills and our instructors are responsible for maximising customers aquatic learning experience. You will also: Deliver high-quality swim education programmes to customers. Follow lesson plans with individualised instruction and progressions to meet the needs of your students. Continuously assessing your students to see they are progressing in their current level and ready to progress to next level. This programme offers you the potential for growth and other opportunities within our Recreation, Sports & Events unit. Ideally, you'll have previous experience teaching, coaching, or coming from a swimming background however, full training is provided. You're a logical thinker and are always one step ahead. You are keen to learn and passionate about teaching people of all ages. Most importantly, you feel at home in the water and enjoy working with tamariki. Successful applicants must hold a current Comprehensive First Aid Certificate covering unit standards 6400, 6401 and 6402. This can be obtained before the commencement of employment, at your own cost. Locations - Exciting opportunities are regularly available at our network of facilities: Parakiore Recreation & Sports Centre Graham Condon Recreation & Sports Centre. Pioneer Recreation and Sports Centre. Matatiki Hornby Centre Shifts are during school term time, with the possibility of some work during school holidays Key parts of the process: Shortlisted candidates will be invited to attend an assessment centre scheduled for 3:30pm Wednesday 9 September 2026 at Taiora QEII. Successful applicants will be required to have an NZ Certificate in Aquatics (Swim and Water Safety Teacher) Level 3. Should you not have this qualification then you will be required to attend training and complete your Certificate within the agreed time. Training dates will be arranged with successful applicants. This two-day course is fully funded by Christchurch City Council, but attendance is unpaid.
