Te Haeata / The Opportunity Te Haeata/The OpportunityThe Ministry is seeking an exceptional commercial property leader to join our National Property Operations team asManager Commercial Leasing and Support Services.This is arare opportunity to leada nationallysignificantcommercial leasing functionthat supports critical public services across New Zealand.You will bring strategic oversight, commercial discipline and a whole of portfolio view to help optimise leased property commitments, improve value for money and support long term property planning across the Ministry.In this role you will:Lead the Ministry's commercial leasing strategy and portfolio optimisation activity across a nationally significant property portfolio.Identifyopportunities to improve value for money, deliver cost savings,consolidatespace, and support long-term portfolio sustainability.Provide strategic leadership across commercial leasing, contract management, supplierperformanceand related support services.Develop a clear view of leased property commitments, including current and future requirements, maintenance obligations, risks,costsand sequencing of work.Establish and lead a structured work programme for leased buildings that supports proactive planning,prioritisationand informed decision-making.Lead complex commercial negotiations andprovidehigh-quality advice on lease, property, financial and portfolio matters.Build trusted relationships with senior leaders, internal stakeholders, government agencies, commercialpartnersand suppliers.Lead, develop and lift capability across the leasing and support services function, embedding clear expectations,accountabilityand consistent ways of working.Strengthen governance, risk,assuranceand procurement practices to support transparent,defensibleand well-managed property decisions.Reporting to theDirector National Property Operations, you will provide strategic leadership across commercial leasing, contractmanagementand support services, ensuring our property portfolio delivers value for money, operationaleffectivenessand long-term sustainability. Ō pūkenga / Skills and Experience Significant senior-level experience in commercial leasing, property management, facilities-related service contracts, or a comparable complex portfolio environment. Strong commercial and financial acumen, including experience leading complex negotiations, managing supplierperformanceand delivering value-for-money outcomes. Experience managing complex property portfolios, including identifying opportunities for optimisation, costmanagementand long-term sustainability. Proven people leadership experience, including leading leaders or multidisciplinary teams, setting clearexpectationsand lifting capability. Sound understanding of governance, risk, assurance,procurementand public sector accountability requirements. Strong relationship management and influencing skills, with the ability to provide credible strategic advice to senior leaders and work effectively across internal and external stakeholders. You may also bring a relevant tertiary qualification, or equivalent knowledge,skillsand experience, along with a commitment to ongoing professional development.
