Nurse Educator - Emergency Department Salary Band – $114,000 – $121,000 Dunedin Hospital 0.6 FTE / 56 hours per fortnight Permanent vacancy Health New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora is firmly grounded in the principles of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and is committed to building a health system that serves all New Zealanders. About the role Education is central to the Nurse Educator role, however in order to influence and strengthen nursing practice it is essential the role is underpinned by all the competencies as outlined in the position description below. Support new and existing staff within the department with the provision of education, training and resources that ensure practice is current, evidence based and fit for purpose. Collaborate alongside nurses, medical colleagues as well as other educators within the wider PDU team. Provide practice and professional development opportunities that enhance service delivery, quality and safety alongside improved patient outcomes. Use critical incidents as an opportunity for staff development. Act as a resource person and support staff to achieve Professional Development and Recognition Programme (PDRP) requirements. Mentor nurses and preceptors where appropriate. Network nationally and internationally and keep up to date on trends and developments within education.
