Casual Biosecurity Field Officer - National Invasive Ant Surveillance (NIAS) Casual Everyday our experienced team of 1,700+ people work alongside farmers, producers, and others throughout the food supply chain to help them uphold what Aotearoa stands for in food - a higher standard of quality and safety. AsureQuality's Biosecurity team are looking forapproximately 8 people to help deliver services thatprotect New Zealand against exotic pests and disease incursions. Dates of work: We have two work periods available: Early November to early December 2026 (approximately 4-5 weeks, weather dependent). 5 January 2027 to the end of March 2027 (approximately 2-3 months, weather dependent). Mandatory Induction: Successful candidates must be available to attend a one-day induction on either Tuesday 4 November 2026 or Wednesday 5 November 2026 (date to be confirmed). Location: We will hold the training at our Laboratory in Lynfield. Meeting daily at our Laboratory in Lynfield or our Head office in Mt Wellington - to be confirmed closer to the time. These casual roles will involve varying hours. This means the hours could be anything from 0 to 40 hours per week. Can only be worked during daylight hours, as these roles involve working outdoors. In this role you will… Deliver biosecurity surveillance & response field services for the National Invasive Ant Surveillance programme (NIAS). Work in a team of 2-4 to undertake site inspections, trapping/surveillance work, data recording and sample handling looking for exotic ants at high-risk sites such as seaports, airports & transitional facilities. Potentially help out other Biosecurity teams with Fruit Fly Surveillance. Respect mātauranga (understanding) Māori and local tikanga (culture) and encourage their practice in our roles To be considered for this role you will… Be physically fit and able to walk for long periods of time. Able to commit to work hours at short notice (we often give 1-7 days notice for upcoming work hours, due to the nature of the work). Able to use phone apps and computer technology. Respect for Te Reo me ona tikanga Maori and other cultures. Can-do attitude and a great work ethic. Previous experience in Biosecurity is highly desirable but not essential.
