Job Description

About the Role This isn't just labour hire filling a shift. We're hiring Manufacturing Carpenters on behalf of one of New Zealand's biggest names in building supplies. This is a business where people stay for decades because the culture is real, the training is proper, and the pathway keeps moving. Multiple positions are now open across both AM and PM shifts, based in East Tamaki. If you want steady work with a business that will invest in your career, this is one worth applying for. Why This One's Different Most manufacturing jobs pay you to turn up and grind. This one pays you to grow. The site we're placing into has just had 62 people hit 10-year and 20-year service milestones this year. That's not a fluke. That's the culture. People don't stay that long unless they're being looked after, trained properly, and given the chance to move up. You'll start on the framing line. From there, the door is open. Team leader, supervisor, processing and optimising team, forklift roles, even the office side of the business. Wherever you want to go, if you show you want it, they'll invest in getting you there. Prior carpentry experience helps but honestly isn't the priority. What they really want is: People who turn up every day People who care about doing the work properly People who take safety seriously People who want to learn That's the difference here. Attitude gets rewarded. Shifts Available AM Shift: 4:00 AM to 12:30 PM, Monday to Friday PM Shift: 3:30 PM to 11:00 PM, Monday to Friday Overtime: Currently 55+ hours per week minimum through peak Weekends: Occasional Saturday shifts as demand grows Meal allowance kicks in after 9-hour shifts What You'll Be Doing Cutting timber accurately using saws and cutting lists Building trusses and frames using pneumatic nail guns and hand tools Reading plans and working to production specifications Rotating across different areas of the manufacturing line Maintaining a clean, safe, and tidy work area Working as part of a proper team with real training and mentoring What We're After Willingness to learn and take on new skills (prenail experience welcome, not essential) Consistent attendance, this is non-negotiable Attention to quality and pride in your work Safety-first mindset (nail guns, machinery, real hazards to respect) Physically fit for sustained standing, timber lifting, and repetitive hand and arm use Comfortable in a semi-open manufacturing environment with variable temperatures Ability to read a basic plan (you'll be tested at interview) Legal right to work in NZ (permanent residents and citizens preferred for stability) Own transport (early AM start or late PM finish, limited public transport options) Willing to pass a drug and alcohol test Two contactable references What's In It For You Pay starts at $27 per hour and moves up to $33 based on experience and skills Ongoing full-time work with plenty of overtime available Genuine career pathway with training built in over 3 to 4 months Rotation across multiple areas so the work stays interesting Meal allowance on longer shifts, shift allowance built in Proper PPE provided (nail guns, face shields, and specialist gear supplied by the client) Work for a business that invests in its people for the long haul The Honest Word The work is real. Timber is heavy. Nail guns take respect. Shifts stretch out when overtime is on offer. If you're looking for something easy, this isn't it. But if you want a proper career with a business that will train you, pay you fairly, and keep opening doors as you prove yourself, this is a genuine opportunity. Multiple roles are open right now with immediate start. Only candidates with the legal right to work in NZ and the willingness to pass pre-employment checks will be contacted. #J-18808-Ljbffr
