Job Description
We're looking for two Graduate Accountants to join our Finance team on a 12-month fixed-term, based in our Te Whanganui-a-Tara (Wellington) office. This is an exciting opportunity for you to build practical accounting and commercial experience within a supportive and purpose-driven organisation. Mō te tūranga | About the role Working closely with our Finance team, you'll gain broad exposure across financial accounting, business partnering, procurement and commercial activities. You'll contribute to delivering high-quality financial services while developing the technical and professional skills needed for a successful accounting career. As a Graduate Accountant, you'll: Assist with month-end processes, reconciliations and financial reporting Support budgeting, forecasting and financial analysis activities Contribute to the delivery of accurate and timely financial information Assist with procurement and contract administration activities Work with finance systems and contribute to process improvements Build strong working relationships with stakeholders across the Commission Develop your accounting and commercial capability through practical, hands‑on experience The indicative salary range for this role is $61,500 - 65,000 plus 3.5% KiwiSaver employer contribution. The successful candidate will be appointed at a starting salary which reflects their individual skills, experience, and internal relativities across the organisation. We're looking for motivated graduates who are curious, proactive and eager to learn. You'll bring: A completed, or nearly completed, tertiary qualification in Accounting, Commerce, Finance or a related discipline Strong academic results, demonstrated through your university transcript Sound numerical, analytical and problem‑solving skills Excellent attention to detail and a commitment to producing accurate work Strong written and verbal communication skills Well‑developed organisational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities A collaborative approach and the ability to build positive working relationships Confidence using Microsoft Excel and other business applications We're also interested in candidates who are considering or working towards a professional accounting qualification such as CA ANZ or CPA.
