Mō te tūnga Mō te tūnga | About the role We currently have an exciting opportunity to join Ara Poutama Aotearoa/The Department of Corrections as a Community Work Supervisor at our West Coast Community Corrections Sites. We are all about changing lives and creating pathways through meaningful Community Work projects. As a Community Work Supervisor, you will oversee and manage people serving community work sentences while they work on meaningful projects at schools, reserves, community groups, marae, and churches - whatever the community needs. The supervision of work parties Planning and organising projects The development of work skills through pro-social modelling and coaching Ensuring records are accurate and complete Reviewing health and safety requirements Ensuring the smooth operation of the community work centre This is an exciting opportunity to develop a career and to make a difference. Saturday work is essential. Ngā pūkenga me ngā wheako | Skills and experience Community Work Supervisors come from a variety of backgrounds; from trades and farming to office jobs, retail, teaching and social agencies - so your experience could be just what we are looking for. We will give you the training and support you need to become part of our team working to make communities safer. Possess strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build rapport and inspire others. Have the ability to solve problems and work collaboratively within a team environment. Are fresh critical thinkers, using curiosity and imagination to generate new ideas. Can operate effectively in a culturally diverse setting and have an understanding of Te Tiriti o Waitangi. Are positive role models with a firm-but-fair management style. Can operate with high levels of integrity and demonstrate departmental values. Have a full NZ drivers licence. Please note you will be required to complete a criminal history check during the later stages of the recruitment process. Ngā painga | The benefits The salary range for the role is $62, 908 (pro rata) - $66, 887 (pro rata) per annum. Appointment and remuneration will reflect skills and experience relevant to the role.
