Te Whiwhinga mahi | The opportunity As Senior Asset Manager, you’ll take the lead on planning, optimising, and overseeing maintenance and renewal programmes for all assets within the West Coast state highway network. With responsibility for multimillion‑dollar asset portfolio, you’ll ensure our corridors continue to perform, endure and provide value for generations. Develop and optimise 3‑year forward works programmes and annual plans Oversee asset condition through inspections, audits, and validation to support evidence‑based decisions. Lead technical investigations, test plans, and renewal designs to select optimal, cost‑effective treatments. Manage budgets, forecasting, and funding allocations manage (indicative budget scope $62M) Identify opportunities for efficiencies and improved maintenance practice through data‑driven insights. Support strategic planning. Contribute to emergency response planning and recovery following weather events. Appointment salary is between $111,051 and $135,729 commensurate with skills and experience, and participation in the on‑call roster is required. If based in Christchurch frequent travel to the West Coast region is expected. Ko koe tēnei | About you Demonstrated experience in asset management for transport or complex infrastructure Proven ability to develop and manage forward works and long‑term asset plans Strong understanding of pavement engineering, treatment selection, and maintenance Budget management and financial forecasting expertise Experience in asset condition assessment and programme development Analytical skills to translate technical data into practical strategies Excellent stakeholder management and contract management experience Tertiary qualification in civil engineering or asset management Current Full NZ Driver’s license Mō mātū | About Us At NZ Transport Agency Waka Kotahi, we’re committed to delivering great outcomes for New Zealanders - now and for the future.
