About the Role As our Senior Information & Records Technician, you will play a key role in the management of corporate and operational (non-patient information) and records across the Auckland district. You will be responsible for the registration, appraisal, sentencing, storage, retention, transfer and disposal of records while ensuring compliance with the Public Records Act 2005, relevant Disposal Authorities, and Health New Zealand policies and standards. Working closely with stakeholders across the organisation, you will provide practical records management advice, support information governance initiatives, and contribute to the ongoing improvement of information management services. Key responsibilities include: Managing the appraisal, classification, retention and disposal of records across physical and digital formats. Coordinating records transfers to offsite storage, Archives New Zealand and other approved repositories. Providing expert advice and guidance on records management best practice. Supporting and maintaining organisational taxonomies and classification structures. Administering and maintaining information management systems, including AccessIT collections and metadata. Managing digital records to ensure compliance with security, privacy and information governance requirements. Supporting audits, legal holds, compliance reviews and destruction processes. Contributing to process improvements and information management initiatives. About the Team/Service At Te Toka Tumai Auckland, were not just hiring were building the future. The Information Management team plays an important role in supporting the organisation's information governance, compliance and records management obligations. The team works across Health New Zealand to ensure information assets are managed, protected and accessible, enabling effective decision-making and service delivery. About you You will bring proven records and information management experience, excellent stakeholder engagement skills, and the ability to balance operational priorities while driving continuous improvement across information governance practices. Qualification in Records and Information Management, Library Studies, Information Management, or a related discipline, or equivalent senior-level experience. At least five years' experience in a dedicated records and information management role. Strong knowledge of the Public Records Act 2005 and New Zealand Disposal Authorities. Practical experience with records appraisal, sentencing, retention and disposal. Experience working with metadata, classification systems and taxonomy structures. Knowledge of digital records management principles and information governance. Experience using Microsoft 365, including SharePoint. Excellent communication, problem-solving and organisational skills. Strong stakeholder engagement skills and the ability to build effective working relationships. Ability to manage competing priorities and deadlines while maintaining a high level of accuracy. Experience within the public sector, local government or health sector. Knowledge of systems such as Castlepoint, Objective, Purview, Orchestry, AccessIT or similar platforms. Experience delivering records management training and guidance. Experience with content migration, information mapping or information asset management.
