About the Role As an Advisor, Screening, you will support the delivery of national screening programmes that help detect and prevent bowel, breast and cervical cancer through effective health promotion. Working as part of the National Public Health Service, you will contribute to the planning, implementation and evaluation of health promotion initiatives that increase awareness, improve access to screening services, and support equitable health outcomes for communities across Aotearoa. This role offers an excellent opportunity to develop your health promotion expertise, stakeholder engagement skills, cultural capability, and understanding of health equity while working alongside experienced public health professionals and community partners. About the Service The National Public Health Service (NPHS) within Health New Zealand - Te Whatu Ora, work towards Pae Ora (healthy futures) for all by engaging with the wider determinants that impact people's health, focusing on oranga/wellbeing, prevention, protection, and population-level intervention. About you This is an entry level position for a graduate or a person with equivalent work experience. We are looking for a motivated and collaborative individual who is passionate about improving health outcomes and reducing inequities for communities across Aotearoa. You will be eager to learn, comfortable working in a dynamic environment, and able to build positive relationships with a wide range of stakeholders while contributing to meaningful public health initiatives. To be successful in this role, you will have: A recent graduate with a relevant tertiary qualification, or up to two years' experience in health promotion, public health, community development, or a related field. An understanding of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and a commitment to improving health outcomes for Māori and achieving equitable outcomes for all communities. Strong communication and relationship-building skills, with the ability to engage effectively with diverse stakeholders and communities. Good planning and organisational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver quality outcomes. A collaborative approach, sound judgement, and a commitment to continuous learning and improvement. An interest in health promotion, community engagement, equity, and improving participation in national screening programmes.
