Haematology Consultant - Part-Time

About the role As a Consultant Haematologist, you will provide a comprehensive haematology service across inpatient and outpatient settings, working closely with a multidisciplinary team of medical, nursing and allied health professionals. Key responsibilities include: Providing specialist consultation and management for adult patients with haematological disorders Delivering outpatient clinics and inpatient consultation services Participating in laboratory haematology activities, including: Bone marrow biopsy performance and reporting Blood film evaluation and reporting Coagulation test interpretation and reporting Contributing to the operational oversight of laboratory haematology services as required Teaching and supervising medical staff, including General Medical and Haematology Registrars and House Officers Participating in quality improvement, audit and research activities Contributing to service governance and regional haematology networks Participating in continuing medical education and professional development activities The service manages a broad range of adult haematological conditions, excluding haemophilia, bone marrow transplantation, and acute leukaemia treated with curative intent. About you To be successful in this role, you will have: Vocational registration (or eligibility for vocational registration) with the Medical Council of New Zealand in Haematology RACP/RCPA dual qualification in Haematology or equivalent recognised specialist qualification Demonstrated expertise across clinical and laboratory haematology Strong commitment to teaching, quality improvement and multidisciplinary teamwork Excellent written and verbal communication skills Ability to build trusted professional relationships with patients, whānau and colleagues A collaborative, open and empathetic approach to patient care Additional subspecialty training or expertise within haematology Experience working within the New Zealand health system Our commitment to equity Health New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora is committed to honouring Te Tiriti o Waitangi and achieving equitable health outcomes for Māori.
