At Corrections we support those in our care to live offence-free lifestyles. Mō te ūnga | About the role The purpose of this position is to manage offenders who are sentenced to community work. We are seeking a future-focussed, dynamic people-person who can traverse Te Ao Maori comfortably, providing manaaki of our people on sentence and kaitiaki of our community work centre as Senior Community Work Supervisor. We are all about changing lives and creating pathways through meaningful Community Work projects. As a Senior Community Work Supervisor, you will oversee and manage community workers serving community work sentences on meaningful projects at schools, reserves, community groups, Marae and churches. With a natural style to work collaboratively and relationship management skills you will be someone who recognises the importance of the work Ara Poutama Aotearoa does and as we enter into a new and exciting era with Hōkai Rangi, bring new ways of thinking to what is already a complex, dynamic and fast paced environment. Key responsibilities Your key responsibilities will include: Managing people in our care who have been sentenced to community detention or community work Managing community work projects Monitoring sentence compliance Building work relationships with community agencies Mentoring and coaching Community Work Supervisors This is a full-time, permanent position based in Whanganui. Mōō | About you We seek a dynamic person able to guide and motivate people in our care to complete their community work hours. Practical handy person skills and ability to communicate with individuals and groups. We will give you the training and support you need to become part of our team working to make communities safer. Please note you will need to complete a criminal history check and undertake a pre-employment drug test. You must work with high integrity and will demonstrate the Departmental values within your work: Wairua, Whānau, Manaaki, Kaitiaki and Rangatira. A full NZ drivers licence including the ability to drive a manual vehicle is essential. You may also be required to tow a trailer at times. Applicants for this role must be a New Zealand citizen, New Zealand Resident Permit holder, Australian citizen or an Australian resident who holds a current Australian Resident Return Visa. Ngā painga | The benefits The full range (Steps 1 - 4) is $68,887 - $75,533 per annum. Appointment and remuneration will reflect skills and experience relevant to the role.
