Job Description
Senior Advisor, Security and Information Management Wellington | Permanent, full-time Help protect the people, information and mahi at the heart of government. We’re looking for a Senior Advisor, Security and Information Management who can combine strong security knowledge with practical advice, sound judgement and great relationships. You’ll help DPMC’s people understand what good security looks like in practice, supporting them to work confidently with sensitive information and in a high-trust environment. About the role | Mō te tūranga Reporting to the Manager, Governance and Corporate Operations, you’ll provide advice and support across DPMC’s protective security and information management functions. A key part of your role will be personnel security and clearance-holder management, supporting people throughout the clearance lifecycle and helping leaders and kaimahi understand their responsibilities. Your key responsibilities will include: security clearance management - end-to-end management of security clearance processes, advice and support to clearance holders and their managers risk management – lead risk assessments and incident management capability building build security awareness through advice, resources and training support the wider team: maintain clear, accurate security records, up to date guidance and reporting streamline processes and provide practical advice across personnel, physical and information security advise on the appropriate handling and management of information, including classified and sensitive information work closely with colleagues and external agencies to strengthen DPMC’s security arrangements This is a role where how you work with people matters. You’ll need to build trust, listen well and translate security requirements into clear, practical advice. Due to the nature of the mahi, there is a strong preference for the successful candidate to work five days a week in the office. About you | Mōu You’ll be someone people trust to provide calm, considered advice, particularly when the issue is sensitive or complex. You’ll bring: relevant experience in personnel or protective security, information management, security administration or a similar field experience supporting security clearance processes or clearance-holder requirements strong relationship and stakeholder management skills sound judgement, discretion and attention to detail confidence providing clear and practical advice strong organisation, written communication and record-keeping skills Experience in a public sector, classified, intelligence, security, regulatory or other high-trust environment would be an advantage. You don’t need to tick every box. If you bring relevant experience, good judgement, strong relationship skills and a willingness to learn, we’d like to hear from you. Security requirements | Ngā Whakaritenga Haumarutanga You must be able to obtain and maintain a Top Secret Special (TSS) security clearance. Normally, to obtain this level of clearance, you must be a New Zealand citizen or hold a Resident class visa. Alternatively, you must have been a citizen of the UK, USA, Canada, or Australia with a 15-year checkable background.
