About the Role As a Registered Nurse in the Neonatal Unit at Whangarei Hospital you will: Provide nursing care with a family centred approach that is safe, of the highest quality possible and in accordance with nursing council competencies. Maintain and enhance the professional standards of nursing and participate in the development of nursing within the Child Health Services. To participate as an effective team member within the Child Health Services. About the Team/Service/ Location The Neonatal Unit provides comprehensive care for unwell or premature babies from the Northland region. It offers services for babies born in Northland and more than 32 weeks gestation, as well as for those born less than 32 weeks until transfer to a tertiary hospital.The Neonatal Unit is located in the recently completed facilities in the Te Kotuku Building at Whangārei Hospital. This is a 10-cot unit. Care for unwell or premature babies born in Northland Transfers to Auckland Neonatal Intensive Care Unit for any baby that is extremely preterm or requires intensive care not provided in Te Tai Tokerau Care for babies returning to domicile for ongoing care before discharge home Assessment of babies in hospitals postnatal wards Follow up with community team and clinics after discharge if needed About you New Zealand Registered Nurse with a current Annual Practicing Certificate Initiative and motivation Good team player and ability to work within a multidisciplinary team Excellent Communication Experience in neonates/child health is welcome but not essential to apply, we are also considering New Graduates.
