Our main sites are Middlemore Hospital, Kidz First Hospital and Manukau Health Park. We are part of Health NewZealand - Te Whatu Ora, the overarching organisation for NewZealands national health service. HNZ leads the day-to-day running of the health system, with functions delivered at local, district, regional and national levels. About the role: At Health NewZealand Te Whatu Ora Counties Manukau, we are committed to improving health outcomes for our community. We are seeking a motivated, compassionate, and culturally responsive Community Midwife to provide antenatal and postnatal care that supports the wellbeing of women, birthing people, babies, and whaanau across our diverse population. You will be based at the Papakura Birthing Unit. As a Community Midwife, you will work as part of a community midwifery team, delivering holistic, culturally safe, and evidence-based midwifery care. You will provide support during pregnancy and the transition to parenthood, promote infant attachment and safe infant feeding, including breastfeeding, and uphold the principles of Te Tiriti o Waitangi in every aspect of care. Key Responsibilities: Provide comprehensive antenatal and postnatal midwifery care to women and whaanau in the community. Work collaboratively with hospital teams, Lead Maternity Carers, GPs, Well Child providers, and other health professionals. Identify deviations from normal and respond appropriately, including emergency response where required. Promote health education and empower women and birthing people to make informed choices. Uphold and advocate for breastfeeding and the Baby Friendly Hospital Initiative. Salaries are based on the MERAS Collective Agreement Community Midwife Scale. Why Join Us? About You: Registered Midwife with current NZ APC. 2+ years recent clinical midwifery experience across primary and secondary maternity care in NZ. Current and clean full NZ drivers licence.
