Customer Service Coordinator / Christchurch Posted: 18/08/2026 Closing Date: 01/09/2026 Job Type: Permanent - Part Time Job Category: Animal Welfare,Customer Service Make a difference for people, animals and your community As a Customer Service Coordinator at SPCA , you'll be one of the first points of contact for members of the public, adopters, volunteers and fosterers. You'll combine exceptional customer service with volunteer and foster coordination, administration and hands‑on support for animals in our care. This role is on our rotating roster which runs Monday - Sunday, 7.00 am - 7.00 pm. What You'll Do: Provide friendly, empathetic and professional customer service in person, over the phone and digitally Support animal adoptions by helping match people with the right animals for their circumstances Recruit, onboard, coordinate and support our valued volunteers and fosterers Build strong relationships with volunteers and foster families, helping them feel supported and appreciated Coordinate volunteer rosters and foster animal movements to meet the needs of the Centre Respond to customer, foster and volunteer enquiries and provide accurate, helpful information Complete administration, data entry, reporting and documentation accurately and efficiently Support foster families with the resources, information and supplies they need to care for animals Help maintain a welcoming, organised and professional customer service area Assist with animal careand handling as required Support Centre events, campaigns and other activities that help us achieve better outcomes for animals We're looking for someone who genuinely enjoys working with people and is motivated by making a difference. You’ll have: Proven experience in customer service, community‑facing or service‑focused roles Experience coordinating, supporting or working with volunteers and/or community groups Strong communication and relationship‑building skills, with the ability to connect with a wide range of people Excellent organisation and administration skills, with strong attention to detail The ability to stay calm, empathetic and professional when dealing with emotional or challenging situations Confidence using email, Microsoft Office and other computer systems Strong problem‑solving skills and the ability to juggle competing priorities in a busy environment Experience or qualifications in animal care, animal welfare or animal behaviour would be an advantage Why SPCA?
