Our Hamilton Radiology clinics are looking for an experienced Clinical Leader with a current MRTB registration and people leader to join us as Area Manager - Waikato.

I-MED Radiology operates multiple clinics across Hamilton and the wider Waikato region and provides vital radiology services to Braemar private hospital. This is an opportunity to take on a senior, hands-on leadership role with responsibility for the operational, clinical and technical performance of our Waikato services.

Reporting to the Regional Manager, you will provide leadership across our Waikato clinics and modalities. The Waikato Charge Modality Managers will report directly to the Area Manager, with responsibility for supporting and developing these leaders and driving consistent clinical and operational performance across the region.

You will work closely with our Charge Modality Managers, radiologists, administration teams and other clinical and operational stakeholders to ensure the delivery of high-quality, safe and efficient imaging services.

This is a hands-on clinical leadership position. Alongside your leadership responsibilities, you will maintain an agreed level of clinical practice within your registered modality, keeping you connected with our teams, patients and day-to-day service delivery.

This is a full-time, Monday-to-Friday position, with hours split between leadership/management responsibilities and clinical practice.

Role Overview:

In this role, you will:

  • Directly lead and manage the Waikato Charge Modality Managers, supporting them to achieve their operational, clinical and people objectives.
  • Provide operational, clinical and technical leadership across our Waikato clinics and modalities.
  • Build leadership capability across the Charge Modality Manager team, through clear expectations, accountability, coaching and ongoing development.
  • Partner with the Regional Manager on regional priorities, operational performance and continuous improvement.
  • Work through the Charge Modality Managers to support workforce planning, rostering, leave management and resourcing across the region.
  • Work collaboratively with clinical, administration and radiologist teams to optimise clinic capacity, patient access and service delivery.
  • Promote collaboration and consistency across clinics and modalities.

  • Promote consistent, high-quality clinical practice and technical excellence across modalities.
  • Maintain a visible clinical presence and undertake agreed clinical duties within your registered modality.
  • Support performance development, recruitment, retention, succession planning and professional development.
  • Monitor operational performance and contribute to the achievement of financial and regional performance objectives.
  • Support quality, accreditation, patient safety and clinical governance requirements.
  • Build strong relationships across our clinics, hospitals, referrers and the wider I-MED network.
  • Travel between Waikato clinics as required.

What we're looking for:

  • A qualified Medical Imaging Technologist or Sonographer with current MRTB registration and APC.
  • Extensive clinical experience and strong technical expertise within your registered modality.
  • Demonstrated people leadership experience, ideally within a multi-site healthcare or medical imaging environment.
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
  • The ability to influence, coach and support leaders across multiple sites.
  • Strong problem-solving, prioritisation and decision-making capability.
  • A commitment to quality, patient-centered care, continuous improvement and culturally safe and inclusive practice.
  • A full driver's license.
