About the role Join our growing Financial Services Audit & Assurance team and lead audit and assurance engagements for a diverse range of financial services clients. Working closely with our Partners, you'll manage engagements from planning through to completion, build strong client relationships, and deliver high-quality outcomes in a complex and evolving regulatory environment. You'll also play a key leadership role within the team, coaching and developing junior staff while continuing to build your expertise across financial services, regulatory assurance and emerging assurance services. Key Responsibilities Lead audit and assurance engagements from planning through to completion, ensuring delivery is timely, efficient and of a high standard. Manage engagements across financial services clients, including regulated entities and complex assurance environments. Apply audit methodology, accounting standards and professional judgement to identify key risks and develop practical audit responses. Manage team workflow, deadlines and engagement budgets, keeping Partners and stakeholders informed of progress. Build strong client relationships and communicate clearly with client finance teams, senior executives and governance stakeholders. Identify audit, accounting, controls or regulatory issues early and recommend practical solutions. Ensure compliance with independence, ethics, quality and risk management requirements. Coach and develop junior team members, providing regular feedback and supporting a positive learning culture. Contribute to the technical capability of the wider team through knowledge sharing, training and on-the-job coaching. Support the continued growth of BDO Auckland’s Financial Services Audit & Assurance offering. Experience We are looking for someone who is experienced, has strong commercial acumen and looking for career growth with: 5+ years’ audit experience within a professional services environment. Experience working with financial services clients, regulated entities or complex audit engagements. A Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a related discipline. Strong written and verbal communication skills. The ability to manage multiple engagements, deadlines and stakeholder expectations.
