Clinical Nurse Specialist - Auckland Regional Forensic Psychiatry Service Clinical Nurse Specialist - Auckland Regional Forensic Psychiatry Services Full-time 1 FTE (40 hours per week) Based in Point Chevalier The Auckland Regional Forensic Psychiatry Service (ARFPS), based at the Mason Clinic, is the largest forensic mental health service in New Zealand. Services are provided by Te Whatu Ora Waitematā with a catchment area from the Bombay Hills to Cape Reinga, with forensic intellectual disability services extending to Taupō. The ARFPS provides comprehensive, evidence based secure mental health and intellectual disability services to the four Northern District Health Boards including all courts in the northern region and five prisons. We currently have an exciting opportunity for a Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) to join our Regional Forensic Mental Health Service. In this advanced practice role, the CNS will contribute specialist forensic mental health nursing expertise across the continuum of care. The CNS will provide leadership in the assessment, planning, implementation, coordination, and evaluation of care for Tangata whai i te ora accessing regional forensic services. This role will require working with nursing staff to maintain the competencies necessary to provide best practice to vulnerable Tangata whai i te ora with complex mental health, criminogenic and social care needs. The role also requires being part of the multi-disciplinary leadership team to maintain and refine the quality of service delivery The CNS will be expected to: Mentor, coaching and support for Registered and Enrolled Nurses. Provide clinical and professional nursing leadership. Role model evidence based nursing care in a multidisciplinary team. Establish of nursing quality initiatives. Manage potential risk associated with a tāngata whaikaha hinengaro by leading timely risk assessments, de-escalation and early intervention strategies.
