Dannevirke High School Manawatu/Whanganui Teacher of Te Ao Maori Full time, Permanent Secondary (Years 7-15) / wharekura, Certificated teacher Te reo Māori HPTSA and MU Dannevirke High School is seeking an innovative and passionate Kaiako o Te Ao Māori who is committed to empowering rangatahi through authentic, learner-centred teaching and learning. Located within the rohe of two iwi and serving a diverse rural community, Dannevirke High School values the unique cultural identity of its learners and the important role Te Ao Māori plays in helping all students succeed. We are looking for a teacher who sees Te Ao Māori as broader than language acquisition alone. While the ability to teach Te Reo Māori through to NCEA Level 3 is desirable, we are particularly interested in an educator who can create meaningful learning opportunities through a range of Te Ao Māori contexts. We are seeking someone who can contribute positively to the ongoing development of Te Ao Māori at Dannevirke High School while respecting the unique character, relationships and kawa of our kura. The successful applicant will bring their own strengths, experiences and perspectives, while working collaboratively within the established values of our school community and alongside our relationships with mana whenua. The ability to build strong relationships with students, whānau, staff and community partners is essential. We are looking for someone who: Holds a deep commitment to the success and wellbeing of rangatahi. Can teach Te Reo Māori to NCEA Level 3. Can develop student centred and engaging programmes across a range of Te Ao Māori contexts. Understands the value of flexible pathways to achievement. Appreciates the importance of local context, local histories and school kawa. Is a collaborative and future-focused educator and leader of Tikanga Māori.
