Are you an experienced maritime professional with a passion for safety, leadership, and delivering unforgettable guest experiences on the water? RealNZ is looking for a skilled and motivated Launch Master to join our Whakatipu operations team aboard the TSS Earnslaw. While you’ll be at the helm of the iconic TSS Earnslaw, training and support will be required aboard our Spirit of Queenstown. As Launch Master aboard the iconic TSS Earnslaw, you’ll take full operational responsibility for the safe and efficient running of this historic steamship, its crew, and passengers. You’ll ensure compliance with all maritime regulations and RealNZ’s high standards while delivering exceptional customer experiences on the stunning waters of Lake Whakatipu. Leading and supporting your crew in daily tasks, training, and safety will be central to your role, alongside providing engaging commentary and warm hospitality to guests. You’ll oversee the vessel’s maintenance, assist with food, beverage, and bar service, and maintain impeccable standards of cleanliness and presentation across all areas. Environmental and regulatory compliance will remain a priority as you help create memorable journeys aboard one of New Zealand’s most treasured vessels. What You'll Bring Strong leadership, people management, and communication skills Skilled in training, mentoring, and coaching crew and upcoming skippers SRL endorsed 500T with Passenger Endorsement Proficiency in first aid and safety systems In-depth knowledge of company operations and local history Experience operating multiple vessels in the South with a hands-on approach Exceptional customer service skills, including sharing vessel and regional details Duty Manager Certificate (preferred) What do you get out of this?
