About the Role As the Charge Nurse/Unit Manager of Child and Youth Services, you will provide visible clinical and operational leadership across a specialist multidisciplinary service, ensuring the delivery of safe, high-quality, and equitable care for tamariki, rangatahi, and their whānau. Working in partnership with clinical leaders, service managers, and community stakeholders, you will drive service performance, lead continuous improvement initiatives, and foster a culture of clinical excellence, innovation, and collaboration. Lead and inspire multidisciplinary teams to deliver outstanding consumer-centred care and positive health outcomes Oversee service operations, workforce planning, recruitment, performance management, and professional development Drive quality improvement, risk management, and service development projects to enhance care delivery Monitor service performance, resources, and budgets, implementing solutions to achieve operational and financial targets Champion evidence-based practice, equity, and Te Tiriti o Waitangi principles across all aspects of service delivery Build strong relationships across Health New Zealand, community providers, education partners, and external stakeholders to support integrated models of care About the Team Child and Youth Services team provides specialist mental health support for children, young people, and their whānau across Otago, Waitaki and Central Lakes, delivering assessment, treatment, and recovery-focused care through a multidisciplinary team approach. Based in Dunedin, the service works collaboratively with community partners, healthcare providers, and education sectors to support positive outcomes for tamariki and rangatahi with mental health needs. Committed to Te Tiriti o Waitangi, equity, and evidence-based practice About you To be successful in this role, you will need to be an experienced health leader who is comfortable leading services in a complex and dynamic environment. You will bring: New Zealand registration as an Allied Health Professional or Charge Nurse with a current practising certificate Proven experience leading teams and delivering services in Child and Youth Sector The ability to manage competing priorities and make sound decisions under operational pressure Experience in workforce management, including recruitment and performance management Strong operational leadership, including planning, prioritisation, and delivery The ability to use data and information to inform decisions and service improvement Confidence building relationships across professional and organisational boundaries A proactive, solutions-focused approach, with ownership and follow-through Working at Health New Zealand Health New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora is dedicated to ensuring excellent healthcare for the people of New Zealand.
