Sales Development Representative - Auckland (selling into the USA)
Cotiss
Auckland, AUK, NZ
Full Time

Job Description
Team currently achieving 100% quota attainment. Applications Close: Thursday, 10 September 2026. Most companies leak 8 to 9% of what they pay vendors. It happens through contracts nobody reads, renewals nobody catches, and commitments buried in inboxes. Cotiss reads what a business already produces, the emails, contracts and invoices its ERP can't see, and puts a dollar figure on what's leaking. We're a Commercial Intelligence company built in Auckland and backed by Blackbird, 645 Ventures and GTM Fund. We've processed over $80 billion in vendor spend, our customers measure an average of 3% savings, and nearly all of our new business is in the United States. This role sells into the US market from our Auckland office. Read This Part First You'll be calling American finance leaders, which means working when America is awake. That means a 5am start, with your call blocks running until around midday and your afternoons largely your own. From 5am NZ time you reach the US East Coast from 1pm and the West Coast from 10am, which is prime calling time. It also means a different week. You work Tuesday to Friday, four days, because Monday in Auckland is Sunday in America and there is nobody to call. If you want a fifth day to hit your numbers, Saturday morning here is Friday afternoon in the US and the phones still work. That one is your call, not ours. We're not going to pretend this is a normal schedule, because it isn't. If early alarms are a dealbreaker, this isn't your role. If being on the phone to New York while Auckland sleeps, then finishing your call blocks by midday, sounds like an edge rather than a chore, keep reading. The Impact You'll Have Build pipeline into US mid market and enterprise finance leaders. CFOs, SVPs of Finance and Heads of Procurement at banks, manufacturers, pharma companies and food businesses. Every meeting you book goes straight to a founder. You're setting the table for the co-founder who runs the deal, and you'll ride along on the discovery calls you source. Front row seat to founder led sales. Work in a pod with our US based senior seller who built the outbound motion, on the same lists, the same leaderboard and the same targets. Call into real triggers, not random lists. A new CFO, an ERP migration, a PE cost out mandate, a refinancing. Enriched lists, documented wordtracks, and a script built from the calls that actually converted. Turn our field motion into meetings. Pre book conversations ahead of US conferences and executive dinners, then work the follow up list within 48 hours. Shape the engine itself. At our size, the sequences and plays you build become how Cotiss sells. What the Job Actually Looks Like This isn't a run-the-sequence SDR role where you inherit somebody else's process and work through a queue. We'll be honest, it is a phone first outbound role and it's not for everyone. You'll run a parallel dialler (Nooks) with leaderboards and contests, and a big week is several hundred dials. You'll hear no more times in a week than most people hear in a year, and then you'll book a meeting with the CFO of a large bank and it will feel like winning, and we pay variable on completed meetings, the thing you actually control, plus a kicker on closed won revenue. The prospects are senior finance people. The conversation is spend leakage, EBITDA and cost of delay, not feature lists. Last month a CFO at a billion dollar nonprofit took a meeting off one of our cold calls. Weeks one and two are about learning, the wordtracks, the Gong call library, and riding along on live discovery calls so you can hear how the conversation actually goes. Weeks three to eight are about building, working your lists, booking your first meetings and finding your rhythm on the phones. From week nine you're fully ramped, and your best calls start going into the library that the hires after you will learn from. We set targets you can hit, because confidence compounds and winning begets winning. What We Look For Must haves, and these are attributes, not credentials: Resilience. Most brush offs in the first ten seconds are reflexive. Discipline. The 5am start only works for people who can hold a routine without anyone standing over them. You work your callbacks and keep the CRM clean. Commercial curiosity. You can hold a conversation about a company's spend, margins and priorities, and you want to understand how businesses work. Coachability. We record everything on Gong, review often, and expect you to want the feedback. Proof you work hard at something. Sport, music, a side business, a service job you were great at. We care about the evidence, not the arena. Judgment. You'd rather call a well researched list for a reason than spray a generic one, and you notice the signals that make a call worth making, like a new CFO, an acquisition or an ERP migration. AI as leverage. You already use tools like Claude or ChatGPT to research accounts and sharpen your outreach, and you're curious about how much further they can go. Nice to haves: 3 to 18 months of SaaS sales or outbound experience like real estate. Familiarity with HubSpot, Nooks or another parallel dialler, Clay, Apollo, LinkedIn Sales Navigator or Gong. Research shows that while men apply to jobs when they meet some of the requirements, women and under represented groups tend to apply only when they meet every one. If this role excites you but you don't tick every box, apply anyway. Where This Goes You'll learn the full sales cycle from the people who close what you book. The path from SDR to closing your own deals is shorter here than anywhere with an org chart, and the reps who master the US market from Auckland are the ones we'll send to build it in person. Compensation And Benefits 180K OTE Meaningful equity. You'll get share options with standard vesting, and in the offer conversation we'll walk you through exactly how many, how they work and what they could be worth. Health insurance. Your birthday off, and quarterly team events. Office first, flexible, and fiercely collaborative. You'll learn from the founding team. A four day week, and the early starts buy back your afternoons. Cotiss started in Auckland in 2020 as procurement software. In 2026 we repositioned the company around a bigger idea: Commercial Intelligence. The record a business runs on was never written where a system could read it, so we built the system that reads it. We're founder led, headquartered in Auckland, and building our US presence out of San Francisco. Location: Auckland office. Tuesday to Friday, 5am start to overlap US hours, afternoons flexible. #J-18808-Ljbffr
