Manager Government Services, Clinical & Performance Permanent, full-time position based in Wellington. Lead a high-performing team delivering high-quality, timely ministerial servicing and advice across Health New Zealand. About the Role We are looking for an experienced leader to join our Business & Governance Services team as Manager Government Services - Clinical & Performance. This role is responsible for a portfolio team supporting Clinical Leadership, Strategy and Performance, Hāuora Māori and Mental Health & Addiction business groups with government services work. Government Services is the key interface between Health New Zealand, Ministers, members of the public and other government organisations, supporting the organisation to meet its ministerial servicing and legislative requirements. In this role, you'll lead, coach and develop a team responsible for delivering high-quality, timely advice and services to Ministers, the Chief Executive, Executive Leadership Team and senior leaders. You'll oversee the effective management of ministerial servicing products within your portfolio, ensuring work is prioritised, delivered to a high standard and meets required timeframes. You’ll provide strategic advice on emerging political, public and reputational risks, while building trusted relationships with business units, leadership teams, Ministerial offices and other key stakeholders. Your understanding of the machinery of government, Cabinet and parliamentary processes will enable you to navigate complex and sensitive issues with sound judgement and confidence. As a people leader, you’ll foster a culture of consistency, collaboration and continuous improvement, setting clear expectations and supporting your team to perform at their best in a fast-paced and demanding environment. About you You are an experienced public sector leader with strong political awareness, excellent judgement, skilled in all things machinery of government and a proven ability to lead teams through complex and high‑pressure environments. You will bring: Proven people leadership experience, with the ability to lead, coach, develop and mentor high-performing teams. Strong New Zealand public sector experience, including ministerial servicing or a closely related role, and a sound understanding of government and parliamentary processes. Deep knowledge of legislative compliance, including expert working knowledge of the Official Information Act and Privacy Act obligations and guidance. Exceptional relationship management, negotiation and communication skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities and remain composed under pressure. You’ll also bring a demonstrated commitment to applying Te Tiriti o Waitangi in practice, alongside a collaborative leadership style and a commitment to continuous improvement, integrity and delivering excellent public service.
