Job Description
We're looking for an experienced Finance Business Partner to join our friendly and dedicated Finance and Risk Group. This is a permanent, full-time position, based in our central Wellington office in Cuba Mall. About the role: As a Finance Business Partner, you'll be a key member of our Finance and Risk team, partnering closely with leaders across Corporate Services, Finance & Risk, Strategy, People & Customer, and Te Hunga Whiriwhiri functions. Acting as a trusted advisor, you'll provide financial guidance, support operational and long-term decision-making, and help drive organisational performance through meaningful financial insights. You’ll lead budgeting, forecasting, financial planning, reporting, and business case development while building strong relationships throughout the organisation. This role offers the opportunity to influence outcomes, champion continuous improvement, and contribute to initiatives that support both the organisation's financial sustainability and broader community objectives. Skills and experience required: 5-8 years' business partnering and financial planning experience. Strong knowledge of accounting standards, financial management practices, and tax legislation. Demonstrated experience in budgeting, forecasting, management reporting, and long-term financial planning. Experience developing business cases and providing commercial or strategic financial advice. Proficiency with ERP systems and financial planning/reporting tools. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to translate complex financial information into practical insights. Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels. Proven ability to build trusted relationships across teams and functions. Experience in local government, infrastructure, utilities, or other complex organisations is advantageous.
