Company Description Hamilton City and Waikato District Councils have formed a publicly owned, Council-controlled Organisation (CCO) to deliver water services across Hamilton city and Waikato district. The company is called IAWAI - Flowing Waters and will take over the provision of water services from 1 July 2026. This transition will occur in stages such as the current Watercare contract for Waikato District Council transferring to the CCO on 1 July 2026. Job Description He angituutanga: The opportunity Help shape the future of 3 Waters connections in our growing city. As a Connections Inspector, you'll play a key role in ensuring the safe, compliant, and high-quality delivery of water, wastewater, and stormwater connections across land development projects. Working closely with developers, contractors, consultants, and internal teams, you'll provide practical technical guidance, support efficient project delivery, and help ensure connection works meet approved standards and regulatory requirements. You’ll be out in the field undertaking inspections, audits, and monitoring activities, identifying issues early and working collaboratively to achieve positive outcomes. Your ability to build strong relationships, provide clear advice, and respond proactively will help ensure defects, non-compliance, and infrastructure risks are managed effectively and resolved promptly. From installation through to completion and vesting, you'll support the end-to-end assurance process, maintain accurate records and reporting, and contribute to safe, consistent, and best-practice outcomes across all connection activities. Qualifications Solutionsfocused with a strong commitment toproviding high quality customer service. Diploma in Engineering or equivalent experience. Minimum of 5 years industry experience in 3-Waters infrastructure including development experience Able to trouble shoot effectively and work well with people to solve problems. Competent in using a range of software packages including Microsoft Office products and basic computer systems. Works as an effective and supportive team member, attend meetings and participate in training and workshops Able to operateindependently andprioritiseworkload to meet deadlines with good organisational skills to plan and coordinate tasks. Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills (oral and written) with the ability to work effectively with a diverse range of internal and external stakeholders. Self-awareness that mindset is the foundation of performance. Current and clean 'Full'driverslicence. Experience working in local government/contracting (preferred, but not essential). Working knowledge of modern municipal engineering practices (preferred, but not essential). Knowledge and application of technical standards for design and construction of 3-Waters infrastructure Working knowledge of and the application of the Regional Infrastructure Technical Specifications (RITS) and subdivision standard NZ/AS 4404 Qualified as a temporary traffic management Inspector or equivalent qualification Additional Information He aha te wariu o te utu kaimahi? | What’s the salary? $75k - $85k dependent on skills and experience.
