Join ACSL – A leader in electrical, HVAC, and plumbing services across New Zealand Location: Patumahoe, Auckland Job Type: Full-time Mechanical Quantity Surveyor ACSL is seeking a skilled and experienced Mechanical Quantity Surveyor to join our team. This role focuses on estimating, pricing, and tendering for commercial mechanical projects, including HVAC, ventilation, chilled water, heating, and associated mechanical services across projects throughout New Zealand. The Role As an integral member of our pre-construction team, you will: Manage the full process of receiving, reviewing, and interpreting mechanical tender packages. Prepare accurate cost estimates, Bills of Quantities (BOQs), and competitive tender submissions for commercial mechanical projects. Prepare, price, and manage variations (VOs), including assessing scope changes, preparing supporting cost breakdowns, and submitting variation pricing as required. Collaborate with suppliers and subcontractors to obtain competitive pricing for mechanical equipment, materials, and specialist services. Coordinate internally with engineers, project managers, and technical staff to clarify scope, specifications, and project requirements. Identify value engineering opportunities and alternative solutions while maintaining compliance with project specifications. Assist with tender handovers to ensure a smooth transition from estimating to project delivery. Ensure all tenders comply with relevant New Zealand standards, building codes, and industry best practice. Maintain strong relationships with clients, consultants, suppliers, and subcontractors throughout the tender process. About You We are seeking someone who has: At least 4 years' experience in mechanical estimating or quantity surveying within the commercial construction industry. Strong knowledge of commercial mechanical services, including HVAC, ventilation, heating, chilled water, and associated systems. Experience interpreting mechanical drawings, specifications, and tender documentation. Proficiency with estimating software and advanced Microsoft Excel skills. Strong commercial awareness, supplier knowledge, and negotiation skills. Excellent attention to detail with a methodical approach to estimating and document control. A qualification in Quantity Surveying, Construction Economics, Mechanical Engineering, or a relevant mechanical trade background. Why Join ACSL?
