Job Description
We're looking for an experienced Chartered Accountant to join a growing and entrepreneurial travel business as Financial Controller. This is a newly created, growth-focused role with genuine influence across the business. You'll take ownership of the financial function, working closely with the owners and wider leadership team to provide commercial insight, strengthen financial processes and support continued growth across New Zealand and Australia. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys being hands-on and wants to move away from a large corporate environment into a varied role where they can make a genuine impact. About the Role Reporting directly to the owners, you'll oversee the financial management of multiple entities across New Zealand and Australia, with a strong focus on commercial reporting, financial planning and strategic decision-making. Key responsibilities will include: Taking ownership of management accounting and financial reporting Leading budgeting, forecasting and financial planning Providing commercial and strategic financial advice to the owners and wider business Managing financial reporting across multiple entities Overseeing intercompany transactions and reconciliations Supporting New Zealand and Australian accounting requirements Strengthening financial controls, systems and processes Identifying opportunities to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the finance function Working closely with the internal accounts team and external advisors Providing accurate and meaningful financial insights to support business growth Managing accounting across property and trading entities Supporting the business through its next stage of growth About You We're looking for a commercially minded accountant who can combine strong technical accounting knowledge with a practical and strategic approach. You will ideally have: 5-10+ years' post-qualification experience Strong management accounting and financial reporting experience Experience managing multiple entities Strong budgeting, forecasting and financial planning skills Excellent understanding of financial controls and processes Trans-Tasman accounting experience highly advantageous Experience working across multiple currencies advantageous Strong commercial acumen and the ability to communicate financial information clearly A hands-on approach and willingness to get involved across the wider finance function Travel industry experience is advantageous but not essential Why This Role?
