Datacom Database Specialist

Our client is seeking an experienced Datacom Database Specialist to join a strategic legacy modernisation programme. This is a 6 month contract role that will play a key part in supporting the migration of a critical Mantec application from Broadcom Datacom (Datacom/DB) to VSAM , ensuring data integrity, business continuity, and successful delivery outcomes. Key Responsibilities: Analyse and document existing Datacom database structures, schemas, relationships, and access patterns. Reverse engineer database designs and application dependencies within the Mantec environment. Identify Datacom interactions across PL/1 programs, batch processes, utilities, and interfaces. Support the design and implementation of Datacom-to-VSAM migration strategies. Produce technical documentation, data mappings, and migration artefacts. Provide data analysis, troubleshooting, and technical guidance to development and testing teams. What We're Looking For: Strong hands-on experience with Broadcom Datacom (Datacom/DB) . Strong understanding of mainframe environments including z/OS, VSAM, JCL, and batch processing . Proven experience in database migration, reverse engineering, or legacy modernisation projects. Excellent analytical, documentation, and problem-solving skills. Ability to work effectively with architects, developers, testers, and business stakeholders.
