We are seeking an enthusiastic Occupational Therapist to join our team as a Transport Assessor . This role offers flexibility, autonomy, and the chance to work with clients across Aotearoa to support safe and independent transport through expert assessments – driving assessment and vehicle modifications. As a Transport Assessor , you will deliver occupational therapy assessments and transport-focused interventions to a diverse caseload of clients. You will plan and manage your own appointments, apply best-practice approaches, and play a key role in ensuring clients can travel safely and confidently. This specialist role offers the opportunity to apply your occupational therapy skills in a meaningful and rewarding practice area, supporting people to travel safely and confidently. As a Transport Assessor, you will undertake comprehensive assessments to determine how physical, cognitive, sensory, or neurological conditions affect a person's ability to drive and travel. You will provide recommendations ranging from fitness to drive through to complex vehicle modifications. You will work with a diverse range of clients, including people with spinal cord injuries, neurological conditions, amputees etc. The role involves collaborating closely with driving instructors, vehicle modification specialists, equipment suppliers, funders, and whānau to deliver safe and effective transport solutions. Based in Auckland, this community-based position includes travel and the opportunity to support clients throughout New Zealand. You will be supported by an experienced and collaborative team as you develop expertise in this highly specialised field. Join a trusted national provider of disability and rehabilitation services Flexible location and schedule – part-time and full-time options available – contracting considered Collaborative and experienced team environment Ongoing professional development and peer support Make a real difference in the lives of your clients and their families NZ Registered Occupational Therapist with a current APC (no conditions) Minimum 2 years' post-graduate experience Clinical backgrounds in wheelchairs and seating, housing, neurology, or spinal cord injury are highly transferrable Experience with ACC contracts is beneficial but not essential Full NZ driver’s licence held for at least two years Excellent assessment, clinical reasoning, and report-writing skills Strong relationship-building and communication skills Ability to work independently while contributing to a supportive and collaborative team environment Strong organisational and time-management skills, with the ability to effectively manage a caseload A sound understanding of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and commitment to equitable, culturally safe practice Applicants for this position must be a NZ Resident/Citizen or have a valid NZ work permit.
