As the owner and operator of the Auckland Westpac Rescue Helicopter and Northland Westpac Rescue Helicopter services, we provide critical emergency air ambulance, rescue and medical transport services across Te Tai Tokerau and Tāmaki Makaurau. Our crews operate 24/7, 365 days a year, responding to people in some of the most challenging moments of their lives. From remote rural communities and rugged coastlines to busy urban centres, we are there when every second counts. Our patients are at the heart of everything we do. We bring together aviation excellence, clinical expertise and operational readiness to deliver safe, reliable and high-quality aeromedical services. As a community-supported charitable organisation, fundraising is fundamental to keeping Northern Rescue flying. We are now looking for an experienced philanthropic fundraiser to help grow community support and secure the long-term funding that enables this lifesaving service to continue. Reporting to the Head of Philanthropy and Partnerships – Auckland, the Trusts, Grants & Bequests Lead will play a pivotal role in securing sustainable philanthropic income for Northern Rescue. This is an opportunity to take ownership of two important areas of our fundraising strategy: Trusts and grants: Identify, develop and manage funding opportunities across trusts, foundations, government and other grant‑making bodies. Bequests: Lead the development and growth of a strategic Gifts in Wills programme, building meaningful relationships with supporters and professional advisers. You’ll build strong relationships with funders, philanthropic advisers, legacy supporters and internal stakeholders, translating the impact of Northern Rescue’s work into compelling funding propositions. Location: Based at either our Whangārei office or Anzac Ave office in Auckland, with some travel between bases and occasional event or after-hours commitments. You’re an experienced philanthropic fundraising professional who knows how to turn relationships, compelling propositions and strategic thinking into sustainable funding. You’re commercially astute, highly organised and an exceptional communicator. Just as importantly, you’re motivated by purpose and want your work to make a genuine difference. You’ll bring: Proven experience in trusts, grants, philanthropic fundraising or a related funding environment A strong track record of securing funding from trusts, foundations, government or other grant‑making bodies Exceptional written communication skills, with the ability to develop compelling funding proposals and applications Strong relationship‑building skills and the confidence to engage with funders, supporters, professional advisers and senior stakeholders Experience managing multiple funding opportunities, deadlines and reporting requirements Excellent organisational and administrative capability, including experience with CRM or fundraising systems A strategic, proactive and solutions‑focused approach A high level of professionalism, integrity and commitment to Northern Rescue’s purpose and values A full New Zealand driver licence Experience in bequests, Gifts in Wills or legacy fundraising would be highly regarded.
