About Napier Sailing Club (NSC): Established in 1891, Napier Sailing Club is one of New Zealand's oldest and most respected sailing institutions. Located in the heart of Napier, our club boasts a proud legacy and strong commitment to developing sailing talent across all age groups. Join us for the upcoming 2026/2027 Summer Session! We are seeking three fixed-term team members to work alongside our dedicated volunteer & casual coaching team: 3 x Sailing Coach Work Schedule: Minimum of 60 hours per fortnight, including work across weekdays and weekends. Pay Rate: $30.00 to $38.00 per hour, based on experience. Key Responsibilities: Provide high-quality coaching to sailors of all levels Support and coach NSC sailors at local and national regattas Promote sailing through our Learn to Sail programs and support membership growth Collaborate with the Hawke’s Bay Nautical Education Trust and Sailability HB Coach youth sailors with pathways to national and international competition Provide clear feedback and reports to Club management Requirements: NZ Level 4 qualification in Sailing or international equivalent. At least 3 years of relevant coaching experience. Knowledge of sailing classes including Elliott 6, Starling, Optimist, O‘pen skiff, 420, 29er,ILCA, etc. Teams racing, fleet racing, match racing experience (advantageous) Experience with Hansa or Liberty Classes (Sailability) is a plus. Proven record of coaching athletes to success at national and international levels. Experience promoting sailing, with a strong focus on youth development. Strong communication and relationship skills, from Learn to Sail to elite-level coaching.
