We are looking fora new full time Pastry Sous Chef to join our established and professional team in a modern commercial kitchen. About the Role: We are seeking an experienced and motivated Pastry Sous Chef to join our catering kitchen team. This is a key role supporting the Pastry Head Chef in delivering high-quality pastry and dessert offerings while maintaining consistency, efficiency, and compliance with food safety standards. As ourPastry Sous Chef, you will report to the Pastry Head Chef and support to meet briefs and deliver client satisfaction. You will be involved in prepping and presenting all components of unique cakes, slices, plated desserts and petit fours, leading the team in the absence of the Head Pastry Chef and driving quality across all aspects of our pastry kitchen While Urban Gourmet will be your main workplace, occasionally you may have opportunities to fill in at other major events around New Zealand (ie Taupo V8's and ASB Tennis Open). This is a full-time permanent role. Minimum 30 hours per week. The shift pattern for this role includes occasional weekend work, some night events with rotating shifts during the week, so flexibility is a must. Duties will include: Working with the Head Pastry Chef and pastry team to deliver high-quality pastries, cakes, and desserts in line with established recipes, standards, and pricing models across sites Providing support for events and catering as required Assisting with menu development and inventory management, including stock control and ordering Supporting the delivery of the Urban Gourmet kitchen vision and maintaining consistent food standards Ensuring environmental sustainability practices are followed within the kitchen Adhering to guidelines relating to dietary requirements, food allergies, and food safety standards. Working across our multiple Auckland venues. About you: Applicants must meet the following: At least 3 years of relevant work experience as a Pastry Chef or similar role Additionally, candidates must demonstrate: Strong knowledge of pastry techniques and baking processes Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-pressure kitchen environment Good organisational and time management skills Commitment to workplace health and safety practices About Us We are leaders in food innovation and event management, with internationally and locally experienced chefs supporting multi-room, multi-function venues with purpose-built state of the art kitchens.
